Holiday TV shows

My wife Natalie & I love watching Christmas movies this time of year. We have a large collection of over 30 holiday classics that we watch year after year. A few days ago while Natalie was baking pumpkin bread for all our friends I decided to try something different. I went onto YouTube and searched "Christmas TV shows" and after playing around a little bit I found a bunch of full episodes of classic TV shows Christmas episodes. We watched Mr. Ed, Donna Reed, Married with Children, Home improvement, & Roseanne. It was fun to see old TV shows celebrating Christmas. Since this was on YouTube these clips may not be around forever, so I suggest trying YouTube first then also Google searching. I am sure you will find plenty to choose from. Happy Holidays and have fun!

Movie mess ups / bloopers

Growing up my dad owned a video rental store and I felt as though I lived in the movies. When I was younger I loved hearing stories of movies set in mid-evil times and an actor or extra left his watch on, or as in the movie Days of Thunder Nicole Kidman calls Tom Criuse by his real name during a scene instead of his character's name; I love stuff like that. I know I wrote a blog about IMDB.com before, but for this reason alone I feel as though this may get you to check out the site if you have not been there before. IMDB stands for Internet Movie Data Base. All you need to do is type in the movie you are looking for and check out what they have listed as bloopers. I enjoy using this feature on classic movies I have seen tons of times and I feel as though I am watching the movie all over again with new eyes. Check it out I think you will enjoy it.

Want to learn a new language for free?!

Natalie & I have had a lot of fun with google's translation device. We are learning Italian very very slowly, but we have not spent a penny and we are not working real hard at it either.

Google's translate program has over 60 languages to choose from. You choose your native language and the language you want to learn, then type in a word or sentence and the computer speaks what you just typed in the new language. You can even switch if you have a word in another language and don't know what it means; you can type that in and the computer will tell you in your native language. What is cool about this program is that essentially you do not need to learn a new language if you travel to another country and meet someone, neither person need to speak the same language as long as they can type and know how to use this program they can communicate with ease...

Try it out for yourself at http://translate.google.com/

Free Auto Repair Help

I am a full time Magician & Illusionist, I know magic but lots of other things allude me. I am not good at fixing things, building things, etc. Last week Natalie (my wife) & I were performing at a school show and after the show we loaded our van, plugged our destination into the navigation, and went to start the car and nothing happened. My battery seemed OK so I called my personal mechanic and we decided it was probably my starter. He told me I could hit it with a hammer and that would loosen corrosion which would make it fire, he then had to tell me where it was on my van. When I looked under the van all I saw was metal. I did not even know what a starter looked like, I had to Google a picture of a car starter. I found it and hit it like crazy but nothing happened so I went onto youtube.com and typed in "how to fix a car starter" and got several videos. Howcast had a video called How to Fix a Car Starter. It was great. It was in laymen's terms and seemed to really speak to me. I was able to fix my own starter because this video showed me what I was working with.

Howcast is devoted to making the best 'how to' videos on the internet. Not only does Howcast have auto help videos, but at this time they have 7,950 other videos on youtube. Their videos are on all kinds of subjects broken into categories: sports & fitness, food & drink, technology, personal care & style, arts & recreation, & more. If it were not for Howcast and their video I may have had to spend a ton of money on a tow truck, they saved the day.

Can't cook? You need Betty!

I stumbled upon Betty looking for new free recipes online. Now over 1 year later she has taught me how to make several of my favorite dishes. Betty is a retired math professor who teaches people to cook on youtube.com. Her husband Rick is the cameraman. Betty said "We try to present recipes that are very simple and take very little time to prepare. Our recipes have been taste-tested, and taste is our highest priority, although we do take into account nutritional value of our recipes. You will find a variety of recipes--some low fat, some vegetarian, some absolutely decadent! I think everyone will find something that fits their taste and philosophy of staying fit."

Some of my favorites are:
Twice baked potato's
Ham & Cheese omelet
Chocolate flavored popcorn

Look around her youtube channel I am sure you will find something that will interest you.

If all that is not enough, a lot of the steps even have spin off pages that break that step into even smaller bite size pieces. An example of a spin off page is "Planning your Honeymoon" the spin off page for that page is "Honeymoon Planning Checklist". They have really thought of everything. This wedding check list is just the tip of the iceburg with realsimple.com, check it out.
